On October 13-14, 2021, kick off meeting of the joint project HAnimSPAC (Happy ANIMals for Sustainable Production And Consumption) together with relevant organizations from countries in the Baltic region (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia), as well as Ukraine and Azerbaijan was held online. The project is coordinated by Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. The project has been granted 50.000,00 Euros. Assoc. prof. Irada Khalilova and assoc. prof Javid Ojaghi from Khazar University are involved in this project.
During the meeting, the representatives of each participating organization made presentations about their organizations and roles in the project. The meeting also included discussions about current issues, legislations and next steps.
The 18-months project is designed to examine the current situation in partners’ countries, opinions of farmers and consumers regarding the importance of animal welfare, identify major issues and evaluate economic impact of animal welfare, organize both a physical and an online symposium to follow up the results, identify further actions and prepare an outline for a proposal for a project within the EU framework programme Horizon Europe.
