The development of information and communication technologies, ensuring the integration of national scientific and educational systems into the world scientific and educational space, the effective use of bibliometric methods require the modernization of information and library support in scientific research.

The online scientific seminar on “Directions of bibliometric and elmmetric activity in university libraries” held by Scientific Library and Information Center of AUL on June 7, 2021 was dedicated to this pressing issue.

The seminar was attended by representatives from Azerbaijan University of Languages, Baku State University, ADA University, Khazar University, Azerbaijan State Economic University and other universities.

At the seminar, Tatyana Zaytseva, Director of the Khazar University Library and Information Center (LIC), made a presentation on “Main Areas of Bibliometric Research on the Example of Khazar University’s LIC”.

During the presentation, it was noted with regret that bibliometric methods are not given enough attention in the curricula of the training of information and library specialists in our country. It was mentioned that for the development of bibliometric research in the field of information and library, it is important to train specialists who meet the relevant requirements in the higher education system, as well as to develop teaching aids.

In this process, the experience of foreign universities and colleges, which have special training courses and teaching aids, can be used.
