On October 15-18, 2019, at the initiative of Khazar University's Department of Life Sciences and the Azerbaijan Medical University, for the first time in Azerbaijan a scientific-practical training dedicated to CRISPR Technology, entitled “The Design and Implementation of Genome Editing with CRISPR Technology” was held. The Training was delivered by Dr. Saeed Koboli, a research fellow of the Osaka University of Japan and Cancer Gene Therapy Research Center of the Zanjan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. The lecture was met with a great interest among scientists and experts of Azerbaijan’s scientific centers, including Khazar University, Azerbaijan Veterinary Scientific Research Institute, Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS, Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan Republic, Azerbaijan Medical University, Baku State University, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, Baku Engineering University, Indian Clinic, Nuclear Medicine Center and AZAL and also students who participated in the training. The Course covered interesting new scientific topics such as Principles of Genome Editing Technology, CRISPR-Cas9 System Structure and Mechanism, CRISPR Application in Research Laboratories and Medical Fields, Application of CRISPR-Cas in Early Diagnostics, Treatment and Industrial Biotechnology, Cloning, Transfection and Editing in CRISPR-Cas Based Genome Engineering, CRISPR-Cas Components Delivery (Nano-delivery) and CRISPR Ethical Issues. At the same time, the participants were practically taught how to design sgRNT (single guide RNA) through the CHOPCHOP program. The training course was generally interactive and assessed by participants at the end of each day.
