On March 31, 2019, with the arrangement of Khazar University’s Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, an excursion was organized to Absheron National Park, within the program of the outside activities course. The National Park is situated in the south-eastern end of the Absheron peninsula – in the area of Shah. At the time of the field study, the students first took the route to the Absheron National Park “Shah” (8 km) route. Students got acquainted with the sea coast, wetlands, semi-desert landscapes and such plants as wormwood, ivy, wild carrot, common rush, whimper etc. and gained practical knowledge about water bird species (coot, pintail, gannet, waterfowl family etc.), Caspian tortoise, eel and other animals as well as Caspian seal, which is included into the “Red Book”, gazelle, common swamphen, ferruginous hen, common flamingo, purple heron, dalmatian pelican and others.
