On March 8-10, 2019 Group of students and staff from the School of Natural Sciences and Engineering at Khazar University participated in the “Winter School of Astronomy for Students” held at the Shamakhi Astrophysics Observatory named after Nasreddin Tusi (SAO).

This project, funded by Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of XI Scholarship contest, was jointly organized by SAO,“Azerkosmos” OJSC, Tusi-Bohm Planetarium and students association “AstroKlub”. The main purpose of this event was to heighten students’ interest in the astronomy and space science.

Within the three-day winter school Khazar University students together with more than 30 students, studying at Baku State University, ADA University, National Aviation Academy, Baku Branch of Moscow State University, Baku Engineering University, Western Kaspi University, had a chance to attend lectures encompassing different areas of astronomy, delivered by SAO employees and get answers to their questions. The students also attended a seminar organized at “Azercosmos” OJSC.

At the completion of the winter school the participants were given certificates.
