On March 1, 2019, within “Let’s Learn World Literature” Project, a workshop “World and Azerbaijani poetry in the context of modern poetic thinking” was conducted by Gismet Rustamov, a poet, essayist, translator and instructor at Azerbaijan University of Languages, at a conference hall of Khazar University. The workshop was led by Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, Instructor at the Department of Languages and Literatures.
At the workshop, ideas about poetry as well as the role of poetry in the development of literary trends and literature, tendencies of world and Azerbaijani poetry were discussed. Orkhan Hasani and Ravan Javid, young writers of the newspaper “525-ci qəzet” also attended the workshop. Sughra Aliyeva, Narmin Alakbarova, Sakina Alakbarova, Farida Hasanli, Afsana Zakieva, Sonabeyim Naghiyeva, Gunay Nuriyeva and Sadig Mirzayev performed their first writing experience.
At the end, Gismet Rustamov presented "Lectures from Russian Literature" by V.Nabokov, translated by him, and the book "From Edgar Allan Poe to Etgar Keret", compiled by him, to the University and recited his poems with a different style.
