On January 10 and 13, 2019, an event "100 Hours Astronomy" was held which could be attended by the whole world. The event was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and discoveries made in science, technology and culture. Series of events of this kind are planned to be held within this year.
During the event, experts and amateur astronomers had an exchange of knowledge in astronomy. The event was attended by more than 250 participants from 50 countries. Dr. Fakhranda Alimardanova from Khazar University participated in the event under the title “Women & Girls in Astronomy”.
The event “Women & Girls in Astronomy” organized on support by the International Astronomical Union and Tusi-Bohm Planetarium took place on January 12, 2019, with the participation of students from Khazar University, Western Caspian University and Baku State University. Making a speech, Fakhranda Alimardanova talked about the aim of the event as well as well-known women astronomers who gained achievements in astronomy. The participants had a chance to win one of the telescopes in the event. Anybody can be a winner by posting #100HoursOfAstronomy and #IAU100 in a social network.
