On December 27, 2018, first and fourth-year students majoring in Philology of the School of Education of Khazar University, visited the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi affiliated with Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) within the disciplines Dialectology of the Azerbaijani Language and Contemporary Azerbaijan. Mohsun Naghisoylu, Director of the Institute, talked about the history of the Institute and the tremendous efforts of researchers. He remarked that hard labour always turns out to be fruitful and pleasing. He added that the future of our country depends on the youth. He also mentioned that students need to be aware of this responsibility and highlighted his desire for them to become specialists with high expertise. Then he talked about the achievements of Azerbaijani linguistics and had welcoming questions from the students.

PhD in Philology Gatiba Vagifgizi, Instructor of the Department of Education of Khazar University and Director of the Department of Education of the Institute of Linguistics, gave information about the Institute. Then students became familiar with the departments. Prof. Ismayil Mammadli, Director of the Department of Applied Linguistics; PhD in Philology Nariman Seyidaliyev, an associate of the Institute; Nigar Aghayeva, who co-worked with Aliheydar Orujov, a venerable lexicographer; and D.Sc. in Philology Khadija Heydarova; and PhD in Philology Fidan Salayeva, gave information about preparation and compilation of dictionaries and principles on which new words are included in dictionaries, and modern state of Azerbaijani lexicography. The students also got acquainted with the Department of Turkish Languages through information given by PhD in Philology Elnara Aliyeva, a leading researcher of the Department. Prof.Sayali Sadigova, Director of the Department of Terminology and Deputy Chairman of Terminology Commission, talked about terminology base of Azerbaijani language. D.Sc. in Philology Sevinj Aliyeva, Director of the Department of Monitoring, gave information about various issues such as development of Azerbaijani language as an official language, protection of language purity, prevention of violation of literary linguistic norms, ensuring compliance with the norms of the Azerbaijani language in advertisements, public places and mass media, action plan of the Department, and the rules and principles for conducting monitorings.

PhD in Philology Kifayat Imanguliyeva, Director of the Department of Dialectology, gave information about the Department, and then delivered a lecture about the history of dialectology of Azerbaijan, first dialectological researches and European researchers' studies in this sphere. Prof. Maharram Mammadli, an associate of the same Department, provided the students with information about researchers conducting studies on dialects and accents, Azerbaijani dialectologists, dialects of Southern Azerbaijan. Then PhD in Philology Gudsiyya Gambarova gave information about preparation and compilation of dialectological dictionaries as well as principles for collecting dialect facts. The students also got familiar with the process of preparation of Nakhchivan Dialectical Atlas, its structure and rules of use.

At the end of the meeting, Kifayat Imanguliyeva presented a specially-designed Nakhchivan Dialectical Atlas to Khazar University.
