On December 17, 2018, an event dedicated to a well-known poet Gardashkhan Azizkhanli’s, a Khazar University instructor, the 60th anniversary was held in the Heydar Aliyev Center in Lankaran city. The poet’s last book entitled “You are my last, you are my present, and you are my end” was presented at the event which was attended by officials of Lankaran Executive Power, members of Lankaran regional branch of Union of Azerbaijani Writers, poetry lovers, education, health and cultural figures, as well as pupils and students of Lankaran State University and Lankaran Vocational Lyceum.

First, the participants visited an exhibition “Gardashkhan Azizkhanli-60”. Then books and press articles authored by the poet were exhibited.

The event started with an AzTV- produced short film “Between eyebrow and eye” dedicated to Gardashkhan Azizkhanli. Quotes by People’s Poet Mammad Araz about G. Azizkhanli was also displayed: “He is a poet of a sense. He is s poet who takes words out of his heart...”

I.Fahmi, a poet, writer, Secretary of Union of Azerbaijani Writers remarked contributions of G.Azizkhanli as an editor-in-chief of “Anthology of Thought” of a 100 volumes and Project Leader of “Mammad Araz Poetry day” project. He also mentioned that he did not know any poet who was granted a black belt in kung-fu except G.Azizkhanli.

Honored Journalist Irada Tunjay, editor-in-chief of newspaper “Adalat”, and Agil Abbas, Member of Parliament, and others also participated in the event.

Students of urban and rural schools performed a literary composition consisting of the poet’s poem. Imamverdi Aghayev, with an accompaniment of Alirza Yuniszadeh (tar), Tarana Sharifova (kamancha), Instructors of Child Music Scool #1, sang G.Azizkhanli’s poems on mugham melody.

At the end, G.Azizkhanli expressed his gratitude to organizers and participants.
