On December 14, 2018, a solo concert “My Beautiful Land Azerbaijan” performed by Rufat Piriyev, a PhD candidate of Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, took place at “Marble” hall of Khazar University.
With patriotism in the foreground, the concert was dedicated to 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the 95th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The concert also coincided with the birthday of Rashid Behbudov, a prominent musician.
The concert program was welcomed by students and instructors. Nargiz Huseynova, Assoc.Prof. of Baku Music Academy and PhD in Art Studies, delivered an opening speech. She talked about the richness of music repertoire of Azerbaijan and mentioned that national and author songs are listened to with great pleasure in our country and in the world. She also introduced young musicians to the audience.
Aytan Ibrahimova, PhD in Art Studies, leading researcher and teacher at Baku Music Academy, had the floor to conduct the concert. She gave information about Azerbaijani music and composers' works and expressed her gratitude to the administration of Khazar University.
Soloist Rufat Piriyev was accompanied by Ganira Hasanova, an outstanding pedagogue and pianist-concertmaster.
Elmaddin Rasulov, a pedagogue and art director of "Ilaha" folk music ensemble, also performed at the concert. "Azerbaijan" folk dance was jointly performed by Aytan Ibrahimova playing the piano, Elmaddin Rasulov playing the tar and Huseyn Malikov playing the naghara, which was one of the most interesting parts of the concert.
At the end, Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, expressed his gratitude to the concert participants. A duet by Ms. Mashati, a Khazar University associate, who has an amazing voice, and Rufat Piriyev turned out to be a special gift for the audience.
We hope this concert will be a memorable event for instructors and students of Khazar University.
