On October 31, 2018, QS published annual ranking of the best universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA) evaluating each university based on 10 criteria.

Top 300 universities out of 26 EECA countries – Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine - have been included in the list.

Khazar University performed among top 48% in the QS EECA University Rankings.

Compared to previous QS University rankings, 7 universities from Azerbaijan participated in this edition. The names of those universities have been included in the list of top 300 universities. According to the results of the ranking, Khazar University was placed in 161-170 tier.

Other universities took the following places:

• Baku State University – 142^th place;
• Azerbaijan State University of Economics – 181-190^th place;
• Azerbaijan University of Construction and Architecture – 201-250^th place;
• ADA University – 201-250^th place;
• University of Languages – 201-250^th place and;
• Baku Slavic University 251-300^th place.
