On October 3, 2018, next meeting of Academic Council was held, chaired by Dr. Hassan Niknafs, Rector of the University. After an opening speech, Dr. Hassan Niknafs mentioned that the meeting of the Council was held for the first time in a new academic year and 4 new members of the Council had joined the meeting. The new members - Tatyana Zaytseva, Director of Library and Information Center; Shahin Isayev, Manager of Construction and Repair Affairs; Fakhranda Alimardanova, Vice-dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; Shahriyar Mukhtarov, Vice-dean of the School of Economics and Management, were introduced to the Council.
According to the agenda, Jabir Khalilov, Dean of the Humanities and Social Sciences; Jeyhun Mammadov, Dean of the School of Economics and Management; Elza Samadli, Dean of the School of Education; Fakhranda Alimardanova, Vice-dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, gave information about the graduates.
Dr. Eldar Shahgaldiyev, Head of the Division for Graduate Students and Research, gave information about thesis topics, approval of research advisers and changes in specialities of PhD students. Then PhD candidates provided full information about their thesis topics and answered questions given by the Council members. Jabir Khalilov, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, provided information about the submission of textbooks and education programs for publication. Moreover, Zivar Huseynli-Baylan, Coordinator of the Department of Languages and Cultures, and Melek Karimova, Coordinator of the Department of Psychology, informed the Council members about the textbooks to be published.
Upon making relevant decisions on issues indicated on the agenda, the members also discussed the current issues. Dr. Hassan Niknafs noted that there were drawbacks in internal discipline, recruitment of new staff by the departments, and posting syllabi and CVs on the website on time, and stressed that those drawbacks should be eliminated immediately. He also added that, in comparison with 2016-2017 academic year, the University associates have gained more achievements in 2017-2018 academic year, and three times more research papers have been published.
