An article “The idea of united Azerbaijan in modern Azerbaijani poetry” by Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, Instructor of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature, the School of Education of Khazar University, was published in the last number of (2018, volume XXXII) “Journal of Literature”, a publication of the Institute of Literature named after N.Ganjavi, ANAS. The article deals with how modern poetry reflects national tragedy happened in 1813 and 1828 when Azerbaijan was divided into Northern and Southern parts. The author mentions that poets such as M.Araz, S.Tahir and M.Ismayil regarded this topic as a high priority throughout their creativity. The article remarks that Southern Azerbaijan is one of the motives of Azerbaijani national poetry and is a central topic of the poetry of the above-mentioned leading poets.
