Within Uzeyir Hajibeyli Music Week, a creative meeting with Murad Kajlayev, People’s Artist of the USSR and a prominent composer, was held at Conference and Concert Hall named after Fikrat Amirov at Khazar University on September 24, 2018.

Heads of administrations of Khazar University and the Azerbaijan Union of Composers as well as composer’s friends, musicians, staff and students of the University attended the event.

The event started with a documentary film about the life and career of Murad Kajlayev. Then Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, delivered an opening speech greeting the prominent composer and participants and gave wide information about the composer’s career.

Sardar Farajov, Composer, Honored Art Worker and Secretary of the Azerbaijan Union of Composers; Ali Usubov, Honored Art Worker; Tofig Bakikhanov, People’s Artist; Telman Hajiyev, Honored Art Worker; Rafig Seyidzadeh, Honored Art Worker, delivered speeches appreciating a rich creative career of Murad Kajlayev, a representative of music culture of Azerbaijan. Moreover, the speakers mentioned that the compositions by Murad Kajlayev which are closely attached to national music, history and rich folklore, have been performed in many foreign countries, and shared their memories of composer’s years spent in Baku.

In the concert program composed of the composer’s works, compositions of various genres were performed. Fakhraddin Karimov, People’s Artist, conducted the concerts program which was performed by Chamber Orchestra of Khazar University (Zulfiyya Sadigova, Art Director), - Sabina Vahabova (a vocalist), Honored Artist; Julia Behbudova (a vocalist); Israfil Rasulova (a trumpet player); Saida Taghizadeh (a pianist); Zulfiyya Sadigova and Azar Damirov (a violin player, USA).

After the concert, Murad Kajlayev delivered a speech and thanked the participants and Khazar University administration for the meeting.

At the end, Prof.Hamlet Isakhanli presented the composer as well as Fakhraddin Karimov and others with gifts. Murad Kajlayev presented his books to Khazar University.
