On September 19, 2018, a seminar “Plato and modern philosophy” was held in Marble hall of Khazar University on an organizational support of Khazar University, the Institute of Philosophy, ANAS, and Caucasus Plato Society. Administrations of ANAS and Khazar University, as well as administration and associates of the Institute of Philosophy, ANAS, scholars and experts of the most higher education institutions, and associates of Khazar University, participated in the seminar.
Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, delivered an opening speech and greeted the participants and guests. Academician Isa Habibbayli, Deputy President of ANAS, and Nikolaos Kanellos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Azerbaijan, delivered speeches and underlined the importance of the event.
Then the reports were delivered by the speakers in the following order: “The unity of Mathematics and Poetry in Plato” by Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, D.Sc. in Math; “Main trends of modern philosophy and Plato” by Ilham Mammadov, Director of the Institute of Philosophy, ANAS, D.Sc.in Philosophy; “The relation between unity and abundance in the history of culture” by Zumrud Guluzadeh, chief expert of the Department of History of Philosophy, the Institute of Philosophy (Plato, Neoplatonism, G.Kantor and L.Zadeh); “Plato: History and Modernism” by Prof. Ali Abbasov, Head of the Department of Problems of Modern Philosophy, Director of the Institute of Philosophy, ANAS, PhD in Philosophy; “Plato and Aristotle: the contradiction of the nobleman and the subject” by Adil Asadov, Head of the Department of Aesthetics of the Institute of Philosophy, ANAS, PhD in Philosophy; “Plato and modernity: mutual relations as a phenomenon of thought” – Fuzuli Gurbanov, D.Sc. in Philosophy, Head of the Department of Theory of Cognition and the Philosophy of Science.
At the end, Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, delivered a closing speech and thanked the participants and speakers.
