On September 18, 2018, on a joint collaboration of Yunus Emre Institute and Khazar University, a panel discussion “A hundred-year heritage: Caucasian Islamic Army”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Baku from Armenian-Dashnaks by the Caucasian Islamic Army, was held in “Marble” hall of Khazar University. Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees; Mr Sayit Yusuf, Vice-president of Association of Turks Living Abroad and Union of Relatives; Ufuk Arja Turganer, representative of Northern Cyprus in Baku; Hamid Karadeniz, Press secretary of the Turkish Embassy; Murat Akkoch, Director of TRT Baku Representative Office; Roza Arazova, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology; Orkhan Zamanov, Ulviyya Ibrahimli, Samira Garayeva, Khazar University associates, as well as students majoring in History at Khazar University participated in the panel. Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Dr. Cihan Ozdemir, Director of Yunus Emre Institute, Dr. Telman Nusratoghlu, Instructor of the Department of History and Archaeology of Khazar University, delivered speeches on the structure of the Caucasian Islamic Army, its struggle until liberation of Baku, complicated geopolitical situation of that time and historical roots of brotherhood of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
