Awarding ceremony for the winners of the Egg Drop competition, held on an organizational support of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, took place on June 12, 2018.
On an organizational support of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the first Egg Drop competition was held on May 25, 2018. This competition was all about challenging the creativity of participants in application of engineering science to safely land a fragile object, here represented as an egg, dropping from a high altitude of 20 m. The criteria to select the champion of the competition included the lightness of structure, the speed and the accuracy of landing on the target determined on the ground. Faculty members of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Dr. Mirsadegh Seyidzavvar and Dr. Mehdi Kiyasatfar were appointed as referees for this competition. A total of 11 teams participated in this competition. According to the final results, two teams namely “Mechanical Power” (members: Kheyrulla Amirov and Ziya Mehdiyev) and HERO (member: Nijat Aliyev) demonstrated the most creative design gaining the highest scores among other teams based on the specified criteria. The champions of the contest received financial award and certificate of first place holder from Dr. Hassan Niknafs, the Acting Dean of School of Applied Sciences and Engineering. The other participants were given a certificate of participation.
