On April 20, 2018, Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, instructor of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature, School of Education of Khazar University, initiated III Mammad Araz Poetry Day in Gazakh region.

The opening ceremony was held in Youth Center on the initiative of the Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Union of Azerbaijani Writers (UAW), and Executive Power of Gazakh region. The ceremony started with recorded recitation of author’s poems by himself. Then Rajab Babashov, Head of Executive Power of Gazakh region, greeted the participants.

Barat Vusal, Chairman of Gazakh region office of UAW, and Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, project manager of Mammad Araz Poetry Day, talked about Mammad Araz’s important role in Azerbaijani literature. Gardashkhan Azizkhanli mentioned that poetry day, which started on April 20th in Gazakh, will take place in other cities as well.

Nuriyya Huseynova and Ilkin Ahmadov, Honored Artists, as well as Jamoy Gurbanov and Yashar Gulumjanov, ashigs, sang songs with lyrics by the poet.

The audience warmly applauded the poems “Azerbaijan – my world” and “Revive, Azerbaijan” which were recited by students who won the competition “Mammad Araz poetry”.

The winners of the competition were presented with certificates and diplomas of the Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
