30 candidates competed for 20 PhD vacancies on 16 qualifications at Khazar University in February 2018. Only 18 of candidates succeeded in gaining research position at this private university.
Heads of Departments and members of commission held interviews impartially trying to choose best candidates. Candidates, who demonstrated profound knowledge and experience, were graded “excellent” and “good”.
Intense competitions were mainly observed for “German languages” and “Organization and planning of education” qualifications. Competition for “Comparative-historical and comparative-typological linguistics” and “Energy technology”, for which admission exams were held for the first time, were also competitive.
Approximately 40% of new PhD candidates are graduates of prestigious universities of European and American.
