A ceremony entitled “Genocide of Azerbaijanis: in memory of a century” was organized for international students in Shamakhi city by the Ministry of Education, on February 27, 2018. This ceremony was the first one out of the series of events to be organized by the Ministry of Education for international students of higher educational institutions of Azerbaijan.
Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Education, Asif Aghayev, Head of Executive Power of Shamakhi city, public and media representatives, staff members of universities and international students participated in the ceremony. Elkhan Kasimov, assistant of Department of International Relations of Khazar University, as well as students from Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Indonesia represented Khazar University at the ceremony.
Firstly, the participants visited a monument erected in honor of victims of Shamakhi genocide. Then the participants visited Juma mosque where the biggest massacres were committed during the Shamakhi genocide in 1918. Afterwards, the ceremony continued in Shamakhi Art Education Center. International students became closely familiar with Azerbaijan history within the ceremony.
