A conference under name of “The mighty sword and pen of the Turkish world” was held in Central Scientific Library on December 15, 2017, with organisational support of "Turan Javid Women Center" Public Union and Central Scientific Library. The conference was dedicated to 135 anniversaries of two great figures of the Turkish world, Huseyn Javid, the founder of poetic drama genre, great romantic poet and public figure, and Kazim Garabekir, the state and military figure of Turkey.

Representatives of state and public institutions and higher educational institutions, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Azerbaijan as well as art critics, philologists, artists, musicians and actors, who addressed topics relating to Huseyn Javid and Kazim Garabekir, participated in the conference.

Prof. Hamlet Isahkanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, and Director of Culture Centre of the university and well-known carpet artist Afag Karimova participated in the conference.

In her report, entitled “Huseyn Javid in Fine Art” Afag Karimova talked about craftsmen, who addressed topics relating to Huseyn Javid, and presented her carpets “Adabiyyat” and “Heydar Aliyev and Huseyn Javid” as well as “Planet” poster and “Alin yazisi” batic.

It was also mentioned that several ceremonies, dedicated to memory of Huseyn Javid, were held both at Khazar University and “Dunya” school, affiliated with the university.

In the ceremony, prominent scientists and art figures were presented with prizes. Kazim Garabekir’s daughter Timsal Garabekir, Head of Kazim Garabekir Foundation, presented Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli and Afag Karimova “Kazim Garabekir Foundation” awards.
