Build Your Future Project Participants at Khazar University

On December 3, 2017, Build Your Future Youth Support Project held an event dedicated to one of the six project values on Neftchiler campus of Khazar University.

Turan Jafarova, Director of International Affairs Office opened the event by welcoming all participants and guests, providing information about the project and reviewing the event’s agenda.

The event started with a session on Health, Safety, and Environment which was delivered by Rauf Jahangirov, project volunteer. Bahruz Hidayatzade, project manager, delivered a presentation about the six values of the project and paid specific attention to responsibility. Isakhan Isakhanli, Vice-rector for Administration and Student Affairs, gave a presentation about Khazar University, programs it offers, university’s resources, scholarship opportunities, and other important information. Alumni of the Build Your Future Project who are currently studying at Khazar University presented short speeches about the student life at Khazar University, their participation in the project, and shared personal recommendations on how to make the most out of participation in the project and how to prepare to the university admission exam effectively.

After a short coffee break, the event continued with a speech about responsibility by the Founder of Khazar University and the Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees Professor Hamlet Isakhanli. Professor Isakhanli also spoke about the history of the establishment of Khazar University. Manager of the project Bahruz Hidayatzade presented a diploma to Professor Hamlet Isakhanli and thanked him for continuous support and cooperation. It should be noted that in the current academic year of 2017-2018, Khazar University became the top selected university among alumni of the project – 25 project alumni started their programs at Khazar University in September 2017.

Dr. Elza Semedli, Dean of School of Education, spoke about the characteristics of a responsible person. Participants watched several short videos about responsibility and had a discussion afterwards.

Other speakers of the event included Javid Imamoglu (trainer and co-founder of “Ugur Akademiya”), Joshqun Karimov (trainer and author), and Khaqani Safarov (HR Specialist at Gilan Holding).

Currently in its 4th year, Build Your Future is a project carried out within the Corporate Social Responsibility policy of numerous local and international companies and aims at sustainable development of Azerbaijani youth through enabling their access to higher education. One hundred and twenty-five young people supported by the project in its 3rd year had entered local universities. This year, the project works with more than 200 young people from disadvantaged families who were selected among more than 2100 applicants.
