On November 26, 2017, “The Chain” Team organized a training session on conflict management at Neftchiler Campus of Khazar University. This training was one of the components of their campaign within its participation in the project “P2P: Facebook Global Digital Challenge”. The participants included both students and employees from various local universities and organizations.
The training session started with an introduction game to break the ice among the participants. During the session, various topics such as conflict management and communication approaches; non-violent communication theory developed by Marshall Rosenberg; the hamburger method of constructive criticism; and Thomas Kilmann conflict modes, in particular, were discussed. The participants also had a debate on how these approaches could be implemented in real life situations.
To apply the newly gained knowledge on negotiation and conflict resolution skills, the participants were divided into teams and participated in the Orange Game. According to the rules of the game, there was only one orange for sale and two buyers who would use it for two different purposes. Teams were supposed to come with the best solution for both buyers using conflict resolution and communication techniques.
At the end of the training session, the participants were awarded certificates of participation. A small gift package of the campaign was also presented to each participant.
