On October 24, Khazar University hosted an anniversary ceremony to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Vurgun Eyyub, the head of the Azerbaijani Language and Literature department. The university administration and staff as well as guests took part in the ceremony.
Dilbar Zeynalov, the instructor of the Azerbaijani Language and Literature Department, who led the ceremony, firstly gave the floor to Dr. Isakhan Isaxanli, the vice-rector of the university. In his speech, Dr. Isakhan Isakhanli spoke about Vurgun Eyyub’s pedagogical and scientific activities, read a congratulatory letter addressed to him on behalf of the staff of the university and presented the letter to him with flowers.
Congratulatory speeches were delivered by Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, Dr. Hasan Niknafs, the rector of the university, Prof. Mahammad Nuriyev, vice rector of the university, Badirkhan Ahmadli, head of Department of Literature Institute named after Nizami Ganjavi of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Elza Semedli, dean of the School of Education, Reyhana Madatova, Ilaha Gurbanova, Khatira Yusifova, Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, instructors of the department of the Azerbaijan language and literature, and Mail Yagubov, instructor of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology.
Speakers spoke of Vurghun Eyyub’s multifarious activities, characterizing him as a well-known educational organizer, literary scholar and public-political figure.
At the jubilee ceremony, Ashig Ramal Azafli and Mahsati Jabbarova, the instructor of the university, performed the ashig song.
At the end of the ceremony, Vurgun Eyyub thanked the university administration and participants for organizing the jubilee ceremony.
