“Mammad Araz Poetry Day” was held on October 14, 2017, in National Museum of Azerbaijan History on initiative by Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, a lecturer of Khazar University, and organizational support of the Knowledge Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Union of Azerbaijani Writers.

First, “Mother land” poem of the poet was played in his own recitation.

Then the author of the idea Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, parliamentary Agil Abbas, Haji Narimanov, Head of sector of the Knowledge Foundation, Rashad Majid, Secretary of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers, daughter of the poet Irada Tunjay, editor-in-chief of “Adalat” newspaper, and other participants talked about life and great poetic heritage of the poet.

Then pupils recited poems from the poet. Pieces of music performed by Honored artist Yagub Zurufju and vocalist Ilham Asgarov, which were composed for the poems by Mammad Araz, were played. The audience applauded loudly the poem “Stand up, Azerbaijan” which was recited by Shirzad Pirallahi, an actor of Moscow State Theatre, accompanied by melody of "Koroglu" overture. Gunel Ismayilova, a staff member of the Department of the Azerbaijan Language and Literature of Khazar University, also participated in the ceremony.
