On April 22-23, 2017, IV International Conference on Psychology was held at “Neftchiler ” campus of Khazar University with the coordination of the University`s Psychology Department and Psychological Counseling Center. Participants included specialists from various regions of the country and people who are interested in the related field. The conference was attractive to many participants because of the tightly interwoven practical and theoretical knowledge it offers.
On April 22, the conference’s official opening was held and lectures were presented. On April 23, the participants took part in the workshops.
Melek Karimova, Assistant Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as Director of Khazar Psychological Services Center, opened the conference and gave the floor to Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees. Then Prof. Dr. Ali Kemal Tekin from Oman took the floor. During the conference, lectures were presented by local and Turkish guest psychologists and psychiatrists who spoke about various fields of psychology. Conference participants included Assistant Professor Dr. Ayten Zara, Istanbul Bilgi University; Pr.Dr. Ali Kemal Tekin, Sultan Qaboos University, Head of the Department of Early Childhood Education, UNESCO Consultant; Pr.Dr. Yashar Ozbay, Vice-rector of Hasan Kalyoncu University, academician at Black Sea Technical University and Pr. Dr. Burhanettin Kaya, an expert on psychiatry in Medical Center for Individual Therapy in Antalya. Associated Prof. Dr. Ayten Zara participated in the conference with a 6- people team called “World Human Relief”. The members of this team Dilan Bozdagh, Seher Tarhan, Esra Zirhlioghlu, Tugce Merve Aytac, Narli Yildiz, and Kader Tarhan delivered their speeches.
The topics discussed during the conference included causes and ways of preventing aggressive, antisocial, emotional behavioral disorders in children, positive development and stability of family, sexual abuse and exploitation of children, trauma and using EMDR methods in disorders associated with it.
At the end of the conference, all the participants were awarded a certificate.
A concert program by Department of Music and Fine Arts was introduced to the conference participants.
