On October 31, 2026, an open-air lesson on managing climate risks in protected areas was held at Shirvan National Park for first-year students of Khazar University’s History and Geography programme.
During the lesson, park staff introduced students to the park’s history, gazelles, and other wildlife living in the area.
This was followed by a discussion of climate change impacts within the park, the risks facing arid ecosystems, and possible adaptation measures. Students discussed ways to reduce these impacts and protect biodiversity.
The lesson helped students strengthen their theoretical knowledge through field learning and become familiar with practical aspects of protected area management.
