An international conference dedicated to the 2,575th anniversary of Chinese philosopher Confucius's birth and the 7th Congress of the International Confucian Association (ICA) was held in Beijing on November 8, 2024.
Nearly 800 sinologist-scholars from 110 countries participated in the conference. Wang Huning, Standing Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Council, speaking at the opening ceremony, noted the relevance of Confucius's humanist ideology in modern times and particularly emphasized the role of intercultural exchange in establishing world peace.
Dr. Agshin Aliyev, Head of the Azerbaijani Language Department at Beijing Foreign Studies University's Asian Faculty and Director of Khazar University's China Studies Center, Ph.D. in Philology, was elected as the first Azerbaijani member of the 7th Council of the International Confucian Association.
It should be noted that the ICA, established in 1994, is a massive international scientific organization that unites philosophers, linguists, translators, and literary scholars from 80 countries worldwide.
