On October 20–22, representatives from universities along the Belt and Road Initiative, including Khazar University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Asfendiyarov National Medical University, Nazarbayev University, Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan Medical University, and Samarkand State Medical University, participated in the Shenzhen Forum organized by Shenzhen Medical School in Shenzhen, China.
The forum focused on three themes: Medical Science and Technology Innovation Plan, International Medical Education Cooperation, and the Innovation of Ethnic Medicine. The aim was to establish technological exchange platforms, including joint laboratories between the Shenzhen University Medical School and universities along the Belt and Road.
During the meeting, the representative received a warm welcome from Prof. Mao Junfa, President of SZU and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Delegates also visited several key locations, including the Headquarters of the Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI), the College of International Exchange, and the National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data System Computing Technology.
Khazar University was represented by the rector, Assoc. Prof. Irada Khalilova at the forum. She gave a talk titled Creating International Scientific Collaborations to Link Education, Global Health and Sustainable Development. She also gave a presentation about Khazar University and encouraged the establishment of research collaboration among institutions. At the Forum, Irada Khalilova met Khazar University alumni who received scholarships through a signed partnership between Khazar University and Shenzhen University. She discussed their achievements and challenges and offered them advice.
