On February 12, 2020, Newly appointed Ambassador of Iraq to the Republic of Azerbaijan, H. E. Mr. Maki Almamori together with the First Secretary of the Embassy Dr. Huthaifa Z. Mahmoud and Third Secretary Zaid M. Abed visited Khazar University to meet with Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, the Rector of the University. Dr. Elmar Mustafayev, Head of the Political Science and Philosophy Department and Ms. Lamiya Panahova, Coordinator of International Affairs Office, also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting the necessity of continuing close cooperation between the University and the Embassy was emphasized and prospects to increase the popularity of Khazar University in Iraq and among Iraqi citizens were discussed. The Ambassador noted that increasing the number of Iraqi students and researchers at Khazar University would be beneficial for both parties, expressing his hopes to have a bigger student community from Iraq studying at Khazar University in the near future.

At the end of the meeting the parties agreed on further close cooperation to strengthen mutual understanding between two parties.
