On October 29, 2019, master students of Khazar University Department of English Language and Literature defended their dissertations on the following topics: Elvina Abilzade, “Pragmatic Function of Inversion in Political Discourse”, Valida Salmanova “Peculiarities of the teenagers` language in the novel “The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger and their adequate translation problems from English to Azeri”, Konul Xalilova “Loss and compensation in translation of the novel “Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck””, Aida Asgarova, “The lexical stylistic devices in the novel “Sister Carrie” by Theodore Dreiser and the differences of their translation from English to Azeri”.
The defense counsil consisted of Dr. Bahman Amani, the Head of the English Language and Literature Department, Department's teachers - Irada Samadova, Ilham Taghiyev and Irina Orujova, Department’s Research Coordinator - Milana Abbasova, Azada Mammedov, Professor of English Language and Literature Department at Western Caspian University, and Jabir Mammadli, Coordinator of the Division of Graduate Studies and Research.
After the presentation of the topics and discussions, the works were evaluated positively.
