On October 29, 2019, master students of Khazar University Department of English Language and Literature defended their dissertations on the following topics: Laman Rafigzade, “Teachers' code switching at Azerbaijan University of Languages and Khazar University”, Narmin Rzayeva “The issue of language choice from sociolinguistic perspectives”, Leyla Abasova, “Sociolinguistic aspects of gender issue among male and female students at Khazar University”, Jala Ismayilova “War metaphors in sports”, Ulkar Kahramanli“ Textual Functions of Adverbs in English newspaper texts”.

The defense counsil consisted of Dr. Bahman Amani, the Head of the English Language and Literature Department, Department's teachers - Irada Samadova, Ilham Taghiyev and Irina Orujova, Department’s Research Coordinator - Milana Abbasova, Azada Mammedov, Professor of English Language and Literature Department at Western Caspian University, and Jabir Mammadli, Coordinator of the Division of Graduate Studies and Research.

After the presentation of the topics and discussions, the works were evaluated positively.
