On October 7 and 8, 2019, Khazar University's faculty members from the Department of Geography and Environment (Gunay Karimova, Javidan Aliyev and Rovshan Karimov) and the Department of Life Sciences (Asaf Omarov) took part in the “Capacity Building” training conducted by The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Representatives from Central Asia and Azerbaijan were represented in the training. The training mainly provided an overview on IPBES, its object, structure, policies, IPBES assessment, etc. The delegations broadly discussed and exchanged views on the existing biodiversity and ecosystem problems in their countries and the policies of their countries, projects implemented by NGOs and other organizations, and also jointly carried out group assignments.
