On May 24, 2019, Professor Xiaochun Wan, Director General of the Science and Technology Department of the Anhui Province of China, and Derun Wang, Head of International Relations Department, Professor Zheng Zhu Zhang, Dean of the Faculty of Tea, Food Science and Technology at Anhui Agricultural University, and Professors of Anhui University Chaoling Wei and Enhua Xia visited Azerbaijan, Khazar University. Being cordially welcomed at the University, the delegation gave
detailed information about the Anhui University, its activities, personnel training, achievements in the field of tea industry and researches conducted in this area. Associate Professor, Irada Khalilova, the Rector of the University, indicated that Khazar University is the first private university in Azerbaijan and provided detailed information about the University, its level of education, its faculties, future prospects, achievements in the international arena, positions in the global education rankings and its projects.
On May 25, Professor Chaoling Wei, as one of the key speakers in the Conference on “One Health: Problems and Solutions” at Khazar University, delivered a presentation about the tea plant and its role in human health and social life. After the presentation, the guests visited the “Astarachay” LLC Tea factory. Scholars and specialists were acquainted with the production process at the Tea Factory, the products and exhibits displayed at the “Tea Museum”, and by tasting Astara tea became acquainted with the culture of drinking tea cultivated in Azerbaijan for centuries. Also, indicating that the tea equipment in the factory meets modern standards, they emphasized the quality of the black tea produced here and the high level of flavor. The Professor said he would expand his relations with Azerbaijan in this field and will strive to further improve the quality of the Azerbaijani tea.

On May 27, Khazar University hosted a meeting on the outcome of the visit and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Khazar University and Anhui University of China. Furthermore, it was discussed to hold the 2nd International Conference on “Tea, Coffee and Cocoa” at Khazar University in November 2020.
