On March 1, 2019 Melek Karimova, Coordinator of the Department of Psychology of Khazar University and Director of the Center for Psychological Service took part at the public lectures of Georgetown University Professor Dr. Toby Long, an internationally renowned consultant on children with disabilities and special health care needs, hosted at the Baku American Center upon the invitation of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan. Dr. Long’s Lecture was dedicated to “Inclusive Education: Moving Beyond Inclusion to Participation”. Dr. Long is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Georgetown University, and serves as the Training Director of the Center for Child and Human Development at the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.
In the training, the importance of the of students not just studying with others in the inclusive education, but also their active involvement in social life was discussed.
