On February 23, 2019, Azerbaijan Turkey Business Association (ATBA) had a memorial ceremony at Nuru Pasha Hall of Turkish Embassy to commemorate the 27th anniversary of The Khojaly genocide. First, the memory of those killed in Khojaly was commemorated with a minute of silence. Avni Damirchi, Deputy Chairman of ATIB Board of Directors, gave extensive information about the Khojaly genocide, one of the greatest tragedy of the 20th century committed overnight of February 25 and 26, 1992.
Erkan Ozoral, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan; Boran Aziz, Assoc. Prof. at Baku State University; Mehmet Topal, Assoc. Prof. at Anadolu University, and others delivered speeches and emphasized the adversity happened in Khojaly.
Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, delivered a report about the crimes committed against Azerbaijani Turks over the past century as well as Khojaly genocide which was brutally carried out 27 years ago by Armenian invaders. He also expressed his regret that the tragedy has not yet been assessed on a political and legal base.
Alovsat Amirbayli, Director for Public Relations and Media, also participated at the event.
