On February 25, with the coordination of the Department of History and Archaeology of Khazar University, an event dedicated to the anniversary of Khojaly tragedy was held at "Marble" hall of the University. The event was attended by the administration, staff and students of the University, community members, associates of Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan, and reporters of the TRT TV channel, Turkey.
The event started with demonstration of a movie about Khojaly tragedy, and people killed in the tragedy were commemorated with a minute of silence.
Prof. Nasiman Yagublu, D.Sc.in History and Instructor at Khazar University, made an opening speech and gave the floor to Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees. Delivering a comprehensive speech, Hamlet Isakhanli talked about genocide acts committed by Armenian politicians against Turkey and Azerbaijan in the pursuit of the "Greater Armenia" dream. He blamed double standards in the modern world for indifference to the Khojaly tragedy where such crimes are punished by international tribunals.
Mahmut Aghriman, Advisor on Educational Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Republic of Azerbaijan, talked about the genocides committed by Armenians in Turkey. He also mentioned that Turkish people regard Khojali genocide as their own calamity erecting memorials in honour of the tragedy.
Moreover, the following reports were made at the event: "History of Khojali genocide" by Prof. Nasiman Yagublu; "The genocides committed by Armenian terrorist organizations in eastern provinces of the Ottoman Empire" by Telman Nusratoghlu, D.Sc.in History and Instructor at Khazar University; ''Legal assessment of Khojaly genocide" by PhD Kamran Behbudov, Instructor at Khazar University. Hatam Jabbarli, D.Sc. in Political Science and Instructor at Khazar University, talked about his participation in the war against Armenians.
At the end, Prof.Hamlet Isakhanli, Mahmut Aghriman, Advisor on Educational Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Prof. Nasiman Yagublu had welcoming questions from students.
Murat Akkoch, Head of the Baku office of the TRT channel, preparing a report about the event also participated at the event.
