First seminar held within “Let’s Learn World Literature” Project

On December 21, 2018, a seminar dedicated to a trilogy, “The Kite Runner”, “A Thousand Splendid Suns”, “And the Mountains Echoed”, by Khaled Hosseini, an author with Afghan origin, was held at Khazar University.

Vurghun Ayyub, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature, remarked that the idea of the project was offered by Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, and wished success to the seminar participants.

Referring to the saying “The Sun rises in the East” (Ex oriente lux), Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, Project Leader, talked about the reason for starting the project.

Farida Nadirova-Asgarova, Aytaj Hasanova and Narmin Alakbarova, students of the School of Education, presented the trilogy. Emphasizing the main figures in the fictions, they introduced the contents of the trilogy. Prof. Badirkhan Ahmadov, Head of the Department of Azerbaijan-Asia literary relations of ANAS, who authored a series of articles about the trilogy, noted the authors' approach to the problem and the idea of the trilogy which turned it into a bestseller. As an expert in Asian Studies, he also had welcoming questions from the audience.
