An article by Assoc. Prof. Irada Khalilova, Vice-rector for Research of Khazar University, has been published in “PLOS ONE”, the world’s first and largest Open Access journal.

The article is about the determination of an active pro-myeloperoxidase (pro-MPO) and measuring its functions, which is difficult to detect in circulation. This study suggests that in addition to mature MPO, circulating pro-MPO may cause oxidative modifications of proteins thereby contributing to cardiovascular disease. This study has important scientific and practical significance for future investigations.
