On April 5, 2018, the pre-defence discussion of the dissertation entitled “Contemporary Trends in Sociolinguistic Approach to the Study of English Language” was held in the Department of English Language and Literature. The dissertation was submitted by Milana Yunis Abbasova, PhD student of the Department of English Language and Literature, to receive a PhD degree in Philology. Assoc. Prof. Eldar Shahgaldiyev, Head of the Division for Graduate Students and Research, ran the discussion meeting. The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Fakhraddin Veyselli.

Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of Khazar University, and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, Prof. Fakhraddin Veyselli (supervisor), Prof.Afgan Abdullayev (reviewer), Assoc.Prof.Amil Jafarov (reviewer), Assoc.Prof. Jamil Balayev, Assoc.Prof. Galamshah Heybatov, Irina Orujova, PhD in Philology, and Elmira Aliyeva, PhD in Philology, expressed their views on the dissertation. Upon discussion, the dissertation was approved by the participants and recommended for the next stage of defence.
