VII Congress of Azerbaijani journalists was held in Baku on March 10. 241 representatives from 166 members of Press Council as well as Honored Journalist Alirza Balayev, deputy editor of “Khazar Review” journal, participated in the Congress.
Ali Hasanov, Assistant to the President for Public and Political Issues, read Ilham Aliyev’s, the President of Azerbaijan, congratulatory letter to Congress participants. Aflatun Amashov, Chairman of Press Council, delivered a report on performance of Azerbaijani journalists since VI Congress.
Then, the reports of control-revision and mandate commissions was presented to the participants. The reports covered organizational issues and challenges that the council faced.
Participants had discussions on reports and talked about development of media in Azerbaijan as well as advancement of technical facilities of both print and electronic media, and measures taken to better social security of journalists. Participants appreciated performance of Press Council for reporting period.
Ali Hasanov, Assistant to the President for Public and Political Issues, delivered a speech at the Congress. Aflatun Amashov was re-elected as a Chairman of Press Council at the Congress.
At the end, a resolution of the Congress was adopted.
