A scientific article “The problem of the upper layer in  syntax by N. Chomsky: criteria for the definition of the upper layer of a sentence” by Valida Karimova, Vice-dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Khazar University, was published in the first issue of “Philology Issues” journal, 2018, (ISSN 2224-9257), one of the journals included in Periodical Scientific Publications of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The article deals with syntax in modern linguistics. Moreover, the authors investigates and introduces the relevant researches by Chomsky to readers.
