On September 14, 2016, a new branch of Khazar University’s affiliate Dunya School opened in Sumgayit with an official ceremony. Participants in the ceremony included Dunya School administrators and teachers, the new administration of the Sumgayit Branch of Dunya School as well as its teachers, parents, and students.

Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, made an opening speech about the history of Khazar University and of the Dunya School. He also spoke about plans for Dunya School’s development in Sumgayit. He noted that Khazar University and Dunya School are both highly-rated educational institutions. Dunya School began in 1998 with a very small group of students, but turned into a large private school over the years as its student numbers increased. He also mentioned that Dunya School is affiliated with Khazar University, which is advantageous to the school’s development. He informed the audience about the International Baccalaureate (IBO) Diploma Program at the school, which gives graduates an opportunity to study in leading universities worldwide. At the end of his speech, Prof. Isaxanli congratulated the students and promised that the school would create opportunities for them to obtain a high-level education.

After the official part of the ceremony, a small concert was given by Dunya School teachers and students. Then Dunya school parents were shown a film about the school’s history.
