School of Economics and Management of Khazar University launched a doctoral workshop series on March 5, 2018.
The goal of the workshop was to provide PhD students with the opportunity to discuss their research findings/proposals with their colleagues and senior faculty members. The workshop focused on in-depth discussions of PhD students’ progress in their research on the topics “Improving the human resources management in health organizations”, “Evaluation of the impact of Caspian region countries on EU gas supply security” and “Economic development and prospects for cooperation: the case of Caspian region countries”.
Senior faculty members provided PhD students with their valuable feedbacks and motivated them for systematic and consistent progress in their research.

Dr. Hassan Niknafs, the Rector of Khazar University along with Dr. Jeyhun Mammadov, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management visit Kozminski University and Warsaw University of Technology from December 4 through 8. In their visit to Kozminski University they met with:
The main subject for the meeting was concentrated in discussion for the process of obtaining EQUIS and EPAS Accreditation for Khazar University, School of Economics and Management. Khazar University will pursue EPAS Accreditation as the first step in this process. Also, in this meeting, the possibility of a Dual-Degree program in Finance and Management was discussed in details and some positive agreements were made for establishing a Dual-Degree in between Kozminski University and Khazar University. During this trip to Poland, Dr. Hassan Niknafs and Dr. Jeyhun Mammadov visited Warsaw University of Technology and they met with the Vice-Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Lewenstein. In this meeting, the possibility of a Dual-Degree Program in Civil Engineering major was discussed and it will be pursued so that it can be implemented for the Fall Semester 2018. Also, possibilities of mutual research in the fields of Polymer Science and Nano-Technology seemed to be feasible in between the two universities.

The research paper “The Relationship between Energy Consumption and Economic Growth: Evidence from Azerbaijan” by Dr. Shahriyar Mukhtarov, vice dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management at Khazar University, was published in International Journal of Energy Economics and Policy, No 6, Vol 7, 2017. The journal is indexed by SCOPUS, the prestigious abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature. The study investigates the causal relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in Azerbaijan using annual data covering the period from 1990 to 2015. The Toda-Yamamoto causality test framework of the vector autoregressive (VAR) model was used to test the causal relationship between the variables. The results of this test show that there is a bidirectional causality between energy consumption and economic growth. On December 1, the Faculty of Economics and Management conducted a training session on "Financing and Listing through Capital Markets" for the students of the faculty together with the Training and Education Center of the Financial Markets Control Center. The experts who took part in the workshop covered capital market participants and instruments, investment securities, capital markets financing, types of investment services and the theoretical and practical subjects on issuers of the Baku Stock Exchange listing. The most active participants of the event, which were rich in interactivity and discussion, were awarded certificates by the Chamber of Financial Markets Control.
