On October 28^th, 2017, the 8^th International Scientific Conference on Semiotics, organized together with Ilia State University of Georgia and Khazar University, will be held at Khazar University.

Medium and the World Conference aims to explore means of transmitting information in an age of info-glut and their impact on information and everyday life. This conference seeks to answer the following questions: How is the world transformed due to the impact of new “mediums” (digital media, new technology) and what is the role of humans in the paradigm of the world? Does the source of information change information? In what case is information changed? What is the difference between traditional and contemporary means of transmission of information?

Topics for submission include, but are not limited to:

• Semiotics of Language and Literature
• Semiotics of Culture
• History and Theory of Semiotics

We would like to note our particular interest in the analysis of a cultural fact (literature, art, music, fashion, visual art etc.) as a special medium.

Conference participants are required to fill in the application form and send it along with the abstract (abstract requirements: not more than a page, A4 format, font – Sylfaen; size – 11) until October 10, 2017 to pbashirova@khazar.org.

Authors of the selected abstracts will be informed by e-mail about the acceptance of their abstract within ten days after the deadline;

After the conference, selected papers will be published in the 17th issue of the Semiotics scientific journal.
