On February 17-18, 2020, upon the invitation of Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, the Rector of Khazar University, and members of Life Sciences Department, Rohan Institute Scientists - Dr. Parvana Afshari, Deputy Director for Research, Dr. Ruhollah Fethi, Deputy Director of Education, and Wahid Asgari, International Department Staff member, visited the University. The main scientific focus of the Royan Institute is the use of stem cell technology to treat diseases, eliminate infertility problems and implementation of the cloning technologies. One of the most important achievements of this institution is the cloning of many animals, including sheep and goats, for the first time in the Middle East.

During two days visit, the Royan Institute staff conducted a detailed discussion of future cooperation with Khazar University, including joint scientific conferences, research projects on stem cell technology, training of master and doctoral students. The guests held meetings at a number of laboratories and departments of the University, including extensive discussions held with Dr. Bahman Amani, the Head of the English Language and Literature Department. As a result of the meetings, it was planned to hold a training course at Khazar University by Professor Baharwand, who recently won the Mustafa Prize.

It is worth mentioning that in 2019, Professor Baharwand, the Royan Institute member, was one of the winners of the 500,000 USD of Mustafa Prize, and Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, and Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, the Rector of the University, were officially invited to this grand event. Professor Hamlet Isakhanli took part in the award ceremony and was welcomed to the stage for the conferment of the awards.

The guests also visited the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Veterinary Institute, which collaborates with Khazar University in the field of science and has a joint memorandum, got acquainted with the material and technical basis of the research and conducted scientific discussions with the scientists. At the same time, the guests visited “Dunya” School and got familiarized with the educational activities of the School, where they visited the laboratories, which were created with the purpose of stimulating students and for mastering up the course program being taught.

At the end of the visit, the guests from the Royan Institute were presented with courtesies by Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, the Rector of Khazar University.
