As we have previously reported (Khazar News, June 2019), Khazar Air Quality Lab, established at Khazar University, having started its work on June 1, 2019, carried out two monitorings in Baku and nearby areas. Moreover, Lab has published its results, and an analytical report on the results was prepared with students' participation at the Department of Geography and Environment.

It should be noted that the Lab is equipped with modern equipment, which allows to define air quality parameters in accordance with the European Air Quality Index.

On July 3, 2019, the official presentation ceremony of Khazar Air Quality Lab took place at the Marble Hall of Khazar University The ceremony was attended by the University Leadership and staff, representatives of the Institute of Geography of ANAS named after Hasan Aliyev, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, representatives of executive authorities of Khazar, Nasimi, Khatai and Binagadi regions of Baku city and the media.

Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, in his opening statement spoke about the seriousness of the environment issues and the reasons that made it necessary to establish the Khazar Air Quality Lab. Dr. Rovshan Abbasov, Director of the Department of Geography and the Environment gave detailed information about the monitoring results and also talked about the laboratory's work in the future. Dr. Asaf Omarov, Head of Biology Department, and Associate Professor Gasham Zeynalov, Head of the Department of Petroleum Engineering, delivered talk about various aspects of the environmental problem.

Metanet Avazova, Deputy Director of the Environmental Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, emphasized the importance of the establishment of Khazar Air Quality Lab at Khazar University and delivered an extensive speech about the Ministry's activities in this field and expressed confidence that cooperation with Khazar University would be beneficial, moreover asserted the opportunity of signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and University.

During the event, the questions of the mass media representatives were answered. Public TV, Leader TV, Space TV and ATV channels filmed the event and interviewed Professor Hamlet Isakhanli.
