The Career Development Center was established on June 18, 2001 as a part of the "Career Center Development Project at Khazar University in 1999-2001" funded by the Eurasian Foundation of the USA. Career experts from the UK's Nottingham Trent University provided ongoing support by training the staff of the newly established Center and donating reading materials to the Center. On December 1, 2023, Career and Alumni Center was established at the base of the Career Development Center.

The core purpose of the Center is to assist students and unemployed graduates with exploring career/major options, preparing them for their job search and connecting them to employment opportunities; to support students by providing various interesting trainings to develop their personal and professional skills; to build and develop mutual relations between the University and its graduates, etc.
