Two-Day Workshop for English Language Teachers

The Department of English Language and Literature is pleased to announce a two-day professional development workshop designed specifically for English language teachers. The workshop will be conducted by Nancy Ackles, Fulbright Scholar and Adjunct Professor at Taylor University, who brings extensive international experience and expertise in innovative teaching methodologies.

The workshop will take place on February 10–11, beginning at 12:00 PM, at Khazar University, Neftchilar Campus (Room 408 N). This interactive program aims to support educators in enhancing their teaching and assessment practices through practical strategies and hands-on activities.

The workshop will include two focused sessions:

  • February 10: Using question stems to promote analytic, creative, and scientific thinking
This session will explore how well-designed question stems can encourage higher-order thinking skills and deeper student engagement in the classroom.
  • February 11: Using rubrics in assessment to promote clarity and increase learning
Participants will learn how effective rubrics can improve transparency in assessment, support student learning, and provide meaningful feedback.

Participants who attend the workshop will receive signed certificates issued by the Department of English Language and Literature.
