Intensive IELTS Teaching Course at Khazar University

The Department of English Language and Literature at Khazar University is organizing an Intensive IELTS Teaching Course for its staff members. The course will be conducted by Michael Collins, a U.S. Department of State English Language Fellow.

Mr. Collins has been serving at Khazar University since last September, and he is set to return to the United States on July 5. He intends for the course to be his last major contribution to the Department of English Language and Literature, following a spate of performances at special events. Although all English Language and Literature staff members are welcome to register, he would be particularly pleased to see teachers from the Bakikhanov Campus and the Nizami Campus, since he has spent almost his entire term of service interacting with instructors at the Neftchilar Campus and the Narimanov Campus.

The course consists of four sessions, held over four days. Each session is dedicated to a particular language domain and its treatment on the IELTS:

  • Day 1 (June 19, 2025): Reading
  • Day 2 (June 20, 2025): Listening
  • Day 3 (June 25, 2025): Speaking
  • Day 4 (June 27, 2025): Writing

Each session will be 3 hours in length, with a 30-minute break in the middle. The instructional hours for each meeting will be the same: 10:00-11:30 and 12:00-13:30. All sessions will take place at the Neftchilar Campus of Khazar University. The room assignment remains to be determined, in accordance with the number of registrants.

Department of English Language and Literature staff members who complete the course will receive a certificate verifying their professional development efforts. The certificate will be signed by Mr. Collins and Dr. Milana Abbasova, the Head of the Department of English Language and Literature.
